Dr. Michael Foale CBE – Astronaut & ISS Commander
Michael Foale was born in rural Lincolnshire and was the first British born NASA Astronaut. He has flown in space on six NASA missions.
His experience includes; being Commander of the International Space
Station (ISS), bringing the Hubble Space Telescope back to life and
having played the major role in saving the Russian ‘Mir’ Space Station
as it tumbled out of control around the Earth, following the only
collision in outer-space.
He is a Queens College, Cambridge PhD and has been awarded the
CBE. Michael held a range of senior roles in NASA that include having
been the Deputy Administrator at NASA Headquarters, Chief of the
Astronaut Expedition Corps and Assistant Director of the Johnson
Space Centre.
Michael can relate his experiences of being a leader in NASA – the
world’s most highly rated Federal employer. This includes huge scale
contract management, working and liaising with organisations and
individuals from different cultures (especially the Russians), recognising
and developing talent, sustaining performance, implementing change,
ensuring the continuous need for quality and turning around poor
performance.
He has significiant understanding of risk management, particularly in
confronting the most hostile environment encountered by humanity
and preparing teams for operations that involve high stress and
pressure.
Ron is a former astronaut who has carried out Missions on the Space shuttle and long duration space flight on the International Space Station, he is space walker, former test pilot and Colonel in the US Airforce.
Ron is now:
- An environmental entrepreneur, his work includes providing wells in drought and poverty struck areas of the world, especially in Africa.
- He is a speaker at the World Economic Forum at Davos.
- His company is the first organisation in the world to successfully register a United Nations Clean Development Mechanism carbon credit program for water treatment.
- He is the technical and scientific advisor to the Social Business movement, its founder Nobel Peace Laureate Mohammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank that funds entrepreneurs who are too poor to qualify for normal bank loans.
- Ron has worked with most of the CEO’s of the ‘Fortune 500’ companies.
- Ron has been assigned to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
- He was in charge of NASA’s Open Government and Social Media Initiative.
- He is the Founder of Fragile Oasis.
- He has 3.5 million social media following.
- He has led programmes that have brought clean filtrated water and improve food preparation facilities for approximately 8 million people in Kenya and Rwanda.
Ken Ham – Space Shuttle Commander
Ken was the commander of the Space Shuttle Atlantis Mission STS-132 to the International Space Station in May 2010.
Additionally Ken’s Space experience includes being the Pilot of Space Shuttle Mission STS-124.
Mike McCulley is a former American naval officer and aviator, test pilot, metallurgical engineer, former NASA astronaut, and was the first submariner in space. Post NASA. he was employed by Lockheed Martin Space Operations and served as Vice President and Deputy Launch Site Director for the Kennedy Space Center. He was promoted to Director in November 1995. Mike also became President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of United Space Alliance and was ultimately responsible for the direction, development and operations of the company.
Bill Parsons – Former NASA Space Centre Director
William (Bill) Parsons is an American engineer. He served as the ninth director of NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center, and as the fifth and seventh director of NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center. Parsons served as Space Shuttle Program Manager from 2003 to 2005, and was instrumental in the Space Shuttle programs return to flight in 2005 following the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.
